Play Reading Committee Meeting

Just a reminder to all Play Reading Committee members, there will be a meeting this Saturday, the 26th, at 6 p.m. at 132 Oakhill Drive. We will be discussing possible Christmas plays for the end of this year and begin forming the list of plays from which LCT will build its future seasons.
If that isn’t incentive enough - pizza will be provided.

Open Auditions Annnounced

LCT announces open auditions for the Fall Children’s Theater production of Cinderella, Inc., September 2 & 3 at 6:30 p.m., 210 South H Street (Stone Pine Hall). Parts are available for female adults and children, age 10 and up.
The story centers around Cinderella after her marriage to the prince. Boredom has set in, so she decides to open an employment agency, Cinderella Inc., with her two step sisters, who are nothing like they were described in the stories.
For those cast, rehearsals will run from the beginning of September until the show opens November 8th for a two weekend run.

Ruthless Opening Soon

The joint LCT Lompoc High Drama production of Ruthless! The Musical. This off-Broadway hit is a spoof of other broadway shows like Gypsy, Mame and The Bad Seed and was the winner of the 1993 New York Outer Critics Circle Award for best off-Broadway musical, and was nominated for the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Musical. This marks LCT’s first foray into musicals after a 25 year abstinence.
Ruthless will be opening August 8 at the Lompoc High Little Theatre and running for three weekends with 7:30 p.m. performances on Fridays and Saturdays and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Pre-sale tickets are now available an it is recommended that you get them soon as seating is limited. You can obtain tickets for $12 at Printed Matter Bookstore, Alfie’s Fish & Chips, or online by going to www.lhsdrama.com. Tickets will also be available at the door for $15.

Fall Children's Play Approved

The LCT board has approved “Cinderella, Inc.” for the children’s theater production this fall. Auditions are planned for September 2nd and 3rd at Stone Pine Hall (the Museum Annex) on South H street. Performances for the play will be November 8, 9, 15 & 16 in the Lompoc Civic Auditorium.
Parts will be available for several children and at least one adult. Additional details should be posted on our Auditions page in the weeks to come. Check back regularly, or subscribe to our RSS feed to stay posted on current news and events events as well as audition and production information.

Historical Historian at LCT

Carolyn Joly, Lompoc Civic Theatre’s original historian, is back at her old position. It was Carolyn who put together the first photo albums and scrap books when LCT (then known as LCTPC, or Lompoc Civic Theatre Production Company) first started in 1973. At last night’s membership meeting, she brought by the latest scrapbook, not yet complete, with photos, clippings, flyers and more from LCT’s most recent productions.
If anyone involved in a production takes pictures, or you happen to see an article about LCT in a newspaper or magazine, get a copy of it to Carolyn. She’ll return any duplicates, and you can help her preserve the growing historical documents of LCT.

Planning for 2009

The LCT Play Reading Committee will be meeting July 12 at 6 p.m. to begin formulating a list of potential plays for our 2009 season. It is our hope to have a slate of 12 plays by the September membership meeting. Directors will choose plays from the list that they would be willing to direct, then the board will be able to finalize the season by October.
Also up for discussion will be possible plays for the rest of this year, including a children’s theater production and a possible holiday show.
Anyone interested in participating the the play selection is welcome to attend the committee meeting which will be held at Mike Callahan’s house, 132 Oakdale Dr.
